Số báo Tuổi Trẻ đặc biệt kỷ niệm Ngày 30-4 năm nay được chuẩn bị khá sớm bằng cuộc thi dành cho bạn đọc viết về “Sài Gòn bao dung – TP.HCM nghĩa tình”.
Và Tuổi Trẻ đã bị cuốn hút ngay vào cuộc thi này bởi sự hưởng ứng nồng nhiệt của bạn đọc. Không chỉ dẫn ra những câu chuyện người thật việc thật bình dị, mộc mạc, mà chính bạn đọc đã truyền đi sự cảm nhận và cảm xúc về một vùng đất, cùng đúc kết về đặc tính và văn hóa Sài Gòn 300 năm qua.

Sài Gòn – TP.HCM trong mắt và trong tim bạn đọc là thành phố của tình yêu và nỗi nhớ, thành phố năng động và sáng tạo, thành phố cởi mở và nghĩa tình… Người Sài Gòn luôn xem bản thân mình là một phần của cộng đồng nên đã quen tương trợ, bao dung, giúp đỡ người khác. Nơi người ta sống có tâm với nhau chính là nơi đáng sống (ý của một bạn đọc trẻ).
Sau bao sóng gió, thăng trầm của lịch sử, hòa bình đã trở lại với thành phố này 46 năm qua cũng là hòa bình của cả đất nước Việt Nam ta. Giờ đây ta còn là sứ giả kiến tạo hòa bình cho những nước đang ngập chìm trong xung đột, chiến tranh ở châu Á, châu Phi. Giờ đây, ta đã thấu hiểu “bên trong hòa hợp, bên ngoài hòa hiếu” là điều kiện tất yếu để phát triển đất nước. Giờ đây, ta dấy lên mong muốn Việt Nam hùng cường “sánh vai với các cường quốc năm châu”.
Nếu biến được giá trị của “tam hòa” (hòa hợp dân tộc, hòa bình đất nước và hòa hiếu thế giới) thành sức mạnh và động lực thì chúng ta hoàn toàn có thể tạo lập nên kỳ tích mới trong thập niên tới.
